The One That Didn't Get Away

Everybody called her Crazy Nell for saying she'd seen the lake monster. She's home to prove it, and the lake monster is running the boat rental.

When she was eight years old, Nell Pike made a best friend in Lake Tamarack: a long-necked, gentle creature nobody else could see. For ten years nobody believed her. At eighteen she left and never came back, not even for her grandfather's funeral.

Now she's a pro angler with a boat called Got Away, and a TV network is offering $100,000 for footage of the monster. That's almost exactly what it will take to save her grandfather's bait shop.

Tam Lindqvist rents rowboats at the end of the dock. He's tall and shy, and his neck is a little too long. He has been waiting twelve years for her truck to come back up the road.

The One That Didn't Get Away is a heartfelt, small-town lake monster romance with childhood best friends to lovers, a lake full of secrets and a heroine who was never crazy, a record fish, a hometown fight, and a bait shop worth saving, a whole town that shows up when it counts, a closed door, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after.
