The Mercenary

Six years ago, Dane Murtagh watched his crew chief walk off a base in Afghanistan and into an operation that officially never happened. Within a month, Yusuf Kaied was declared dead. Dane believed it for four years, then drank through the fifth, and now runs dirt-cheap private security out of Tucson. He's good enough to be hired and bad enough to say yes to northern Iraq. When the job collapses, the man holding a gun to his head is Yusuf — harder, quieter, speaking languages he didn't used to. He doesn't explain. He doesn't apologize. He puts a tourniquet on Dane's leg and drives them across a border, and everything Dane has spent six years burying starts bleeding through the seams. Their employer has been running both of them into the same op. When it burns, one man has to die for it, and it isn't going to be either of them. A dark MM reunion romance about the soldier you lost and the mercenary you got back.
