The Insufferable Architect

Lila Moreno makes the best butter croissant in Portland, Maine. She also has a nineteen-year lease she can't enforce, and a new landlord who wants to knock her whole block down. Dane Ashcroft designs buildings for billionaires. He came home this fall to gut one street — hers. Then a storm rips the bakery roof open, the preservation board gets involved, and Dane is legally required to live above the shop while he fixes it. Six weeks. One staircase. One radiator that screams like a kettle. She will not cater his meetings. He will not stop rearranging her shelves. And neither of them will admit that the man who's been trying to buy back his hometown might actually want to stay in it. Some people you have to renovate slowly.
