The Enforcer He Served

Tavo Cruz served nine years for a murder that never happened. The Diablos Negros ordered the hit, the Diablos Negros disowned him, and Tavo walked out of prison with a GED, a sister he'd never met, and no wish to see another chrome wheel in his life. Then the club's enforcer, Lila 'Rifle' Serrano, shows up at his job with a manila folder and one fact: the victim is alive, in witness protection, and the Diablos knew the whole time. Rifle put Tavo away. She has seventeen months of intake logs to prove her old president ordered the frame-up, and she needs an inside man who looks nothing like a brother anymore. Tavo needs an apology the size of nine lost years. They work archives, ledgers, and his mother's kitchen table until the Diablos come for both of them. Rifle has broken Tavo's trust twice. The only way back is a courthouse, a wire he never should have worn, and a plate of food at a food truck window, ordered by a woman standing on the sidewalk like a stranger.
