The Consigliere's Golden Cage

Antonella Bruno restores rare books for a living and runs her father's accounts for the same reason: someone has to preserve what other people would rather forget. When she is handed over as a hostage to the de Falco estate, she expects a cell. She gets a library, and a consigliere who brings coffee and leaves before she can ask why. Inside a fourteenth-century codex she finds a ledger sewn into the spine, and in the ledger a line item for her mother's murder. Antonella does not cry. She finishes the restoration. Then she reads it aloud at the treaty dinner. An enemies-to-lovers mafia captive romance from the hills of Sicily.
