The Consigliere

Isla Kerr has spent sixteen years becoming the kind of lawyer nobody needs to protect. She left Brighton Beach at nineteen with a duffel bag and a phone number she never called. She has not thought about it since. Then her firm hands her a civil case with the name Kirill Volkov on the cover page, and every promise Isla has made to herself about her own life comes due in the same week. He doesn't recognize her at the first deposition. He recognizes her at the second. Sixteen years is a long time to not call somebody, and Kirill Volkov has never once been the kind of man who lets a question go unanswered. A Russian mafia second chance romance about the trial that reunites them and the verdict that doesn't.
