The Cold Preacher

Six Red Fork bikers are dead, and every body arrives at Merrit Shaw's funeral home with the same signature: one bullet behind the left ear, one oil rag folded over the face, one children's hymn left on the seat of the bike. The sheriff calls it a war between clubs. Merrit knows it is one man, and she knows him. She was the club's intelligence sergeant before she buried her husband and quit the patch. Now the killer's ledger has her name in it, written in a hand she hasn't seen since a foster-home fire when she was fifteen. To catch the man who calls himself a preacher, Merrit has to ride back into the life she left, dress herself in leather, and lie to everyone she loves. Lorne Astor has a congregation of bikers and a clean supply of heroin. He wants Merrit to join it. She wants to see him in the ground.
