The Caretaker She Followed

Four headstones. Fourteen bodies. One man with the gate key. Three weeks after her sister Ivy walks into the woods on Bainbridge Island and doesn't come out, Fern Dunmore finds the spare keys and starts walking the same trail at the same hour. It ends at a private cemetery with one caretaker, a locked gate, and a register that lists fourteen burials under four stones — all in the same handwriting. The extra names belong to patients who vanished from an island sanatorium in 1931. The plot has a furnace under it. And the caretaker would rather lock Fern in than let her photograph the ground. A horror mystery for readers who know the scariest thing in any cemetery is the paperwork.
