The Capo's Buried Secret

Four workers dead. A chamber under the clay that nobody knew was there. A body inside it, seated, facing north. The Brunner syndicate wants the site sealed. The forensic archaeologist sent to record it grew up three streets away and has been looking for a missing man since she was eleven. Kristof Brunner is ordered to keep the trench closed and the archaeologist quiet. Then the ground gives way a second time, and the two of them are trapped in the cut with one lamp, one radio, and forty metres of clay overhead. One of them is lying about a watch. One of them is lying about a father. By morning, they both know. And they both decide to tell the truth — to each other, and to nobody else.
