The Bond of Three

Captain Ines Braga holds a mountain pass with forty soldiers and no supply line. When a turned ambush leaves her bleeding out in a monastery garrison, she expects to die there. Instead three vampires she's never met bleed into her wounds and bind her to all of them. Viktor, the Hussar. Kade, the surgeon. Dario, the guerilla. Three men who have hated each other politely for four hundred years, and who now cannot survive her absence. The bond won't hold one. It needs three. It also won't let her leave, won't let her fight alone, and won't let her keep one without the other two knowing. When the turned army offers her a clean deal — her three men, for the pass — she says no, and pays for it in the only currency she has left. She doesn't trade them. She takes a fourth army instead.
