Spearing the Enforcer

Wren Okafor is the most feared man in the Coastal League and he has exactly one friend, and that friend is his mother. When a hit he throws ends a rookie's season and his own reputation, the club ships him to a converted barn in the Catskills to be rebuilt by Viktor Sobel — a former enforcer whose career ended in a fight he should have walked away from. The barn has two clients that summer. Wren. And Roman Kozlov, the kid Wren put on the ice. Eight weeks. One outdoor rink. Three men who have all hit someone hard enough to end a life and are still deciding what that makes them. In October, Wren goes back. Not the same player. Not the same man. Ring on the wrong hand.
