Sparks and Sawdust

Delia Kent has six weeks to restore a century-old boathouse and one rule: don't fall for the client. The client is Mac Brennan, forty-nine, twice-decorated contractor, widower, and the man who interviewed her two years ago and never called her back. He doesn't remember. She does. She takes the job anyway. By the third week she's living in his loft above the shop, drinking his coffee, learning his rules, and breaking every one of them after a snowed-in night on the highway. His business partner finds out and gives Mac an ultimatum: the contract or the girl. Delia leaves first. Mac finishes the boathouse, sells the shop, and drives south to ask for something that isn't on any estimate sheet. She won't take the ring. She'll take a partner.
