Raised to Hate the Bride

Cleo Barrow grew up over a shop on a square that got bulldozed into a marina. She's spent her whole career rescuing the kind of businesses that got bulldozed. Her newest client is a failing bakery on what used to be that square. The landlord trying to evict it is Adrian Temple — the son of the man who took the square, and the family Cleo's mother cleaned for, for twenty years. Cleo wins their first negotiation on a technicality. Then she makes him read the rent roll he inherited. Then she takes him to the marina and shows him what his family's money did. Adrian offers to settle the tenants at cost and put the square into a trust. Cleo helps him write it. He's still a landlord. She stays anyway.
