Lying with the Disciplinary Committee

Ferris Hall is run from a basement office by three students with the power to expel anyone for anything. When the fourth seat opens after a fall from the bell tower, the school fills it at random: Maeve Brennan, a scholarship student who has spent two years quietly documenting the committee's every decision. She takes the seat with one file in mind — her brother's, signed three years ago, after which he never came home. Ansel, Marek and Tobias each want Maeve as an ally, and each offers her something on the others. One file a week, she tells them. Anything less and she resigns. They agree. They're all lying. By spring Maeve holds the complete record, a bell tower witness, and three versions of the same expulsions — and the only name on every file is the headmaster's. A dark why choose academy thriller about a committee, a brother, and a girl who reads files out loud.
