Left at the Clubhouse Door

Bishop and I were together five years. Then a club girl got pregnant, and the Vipers voted to protect the baby — and he moved her into our house. I walked out with my camera and my dog. Two years later, I'm shooting a wedding in the mountains and Bishop is the best man. He's not with her anymore. The baby isn't his. But he never called me. When the club comes hunting him, he shows up at my door anyway. I let him sleep in my darkroom. I let him carry my gear. And when the Vipers call asking where he is, I tell them — then I ride out with a shotgun and a truck full of hired riders. He can grovel forever. I'll take him back when I'm ready.
