Knives and Roses

Vivienne Duval has laundered Marchetti money through her flower shop for six years to be left alone. It worked, until the don was poisoned at a wedding she arranged. Now every capo in the city wants her dead and the enforcer wants her first. Sal Marchetti has been watching Vivienne for six years. When the order comes to bring her in, he takes her to his safehouse instead of the basement, because once, a long time ago, she was kind to him when no one else was. She hates everything he is. He doesn't care, as long as she's breathing. Together they follow the poison back to the don's own son, and killing him means Sal has to take a seat he never wanted. By the funeral, Vivienne is arranging the flowers again, and Sal is standing at the head of the family, and neither of them will admit what they've become. She'll never wear his ring. He'll never let her go.
