Keeper of Ashes

Wren Calloway enrolled at Elmspire under a false name. She isn't here for the classes. Her sister died inside these walls last spring. The official cause was an accident. The real cause is carved into the school's foundation: every seven years, Elmspire takes a student as its keeper, and last cycle it chose Wren's sister. Three seniors know. Nolan Shea signed the death log. Ashbury fed her sister secrets from the ghost archive. Lord Fell chose her in the first place. They loved her. They failed her. Now they're studying Wren, because she has the same gift — and the ward is already warming for the next cycle. Three men who let her sister burn will not let her. This time they stand in the fire with her.
