His Quiet Little Confession

Adam Cross is a careful man. He files his taxes early. He remembers birthdays. He keeps his wife's journals in a row on the top shelf. When Beth goes missing, the police search the mill, the woods, the surrounding fields. They find blood in the workshop. They find Beth's handwriting in a dozen notebooks. They find a wife who seems to have had an affair, a plan, and a very dark interior life. What they cannot find is Beth. Adam says the journals are fiction. Adam says his wife was writing a novel. Adam says the blood is from a cut she didn't know she had. Adam is a forensic accountant. He is very, very good with paper. A chilling psychological thriller about a marriage that may never have existed — told in two voices, one of which is lying.
