His Quiet Island Wife

He was patient. He was kind. He had done it twice before. After a bad year in Seattle, Marguerite Kwan marries a quiet boatwright named Peter Ives and moves into the Bainbridge Island farmhouse his mother left him. Peter is gentle, soft-spoken and away on the water six days a week. Then Marguerite finds a wedding ring in the crawlspace. It is inscribed with his name and a date six years ago. The librarian remembers a wife called Nell. The marriage records show three licenses and no divorces. Two of the women have death notices. Peter comes home early on the day Marguerite digs under the east room. A horror mystery about the most ordinary man on the island.
