His Quiet Cottage on Cobb

The cottage was already warm when I arrived. The kettle was already on. The bed was already made. Noor has inherited number 5 Cobb Street from an aunt she cannot picture. She arrives with a suitcase and a plan to start over. Instead she finds a stranger in an apron who says he is her husband, a mantelpiece full of their wedding photographs, and a ring on her finger that won't come off. The neighbours greet her by someone else's name. The guest book in the hall lists years of arrivals in her own handwriting. And in the cellar there is a door that should not exist, and on her keyring there is a key that fits. As Noor plays along to survive, she begins to remember the other times she has stood in this kitchen, holding this knife, smiling at this man. Twisty, breathless and impossible to put down, with a final chapter that will make you gasp out loud.
