Double Booked

Olive Park booked a quiet cabin to finish her novel. She got a snowstorm, a double-booked room, and Ben Hollis: forty-eight, ex–New York editor, and the man who once rejected her manuscript with three words in the margin. The inn is his. The snow isn't stopping. There's one cabin, one fireplace, and four days of forced company. He offers an edit. She offers terms. They both lose the argument. When the storm clears, Olive goes home to Brooklyn and tells herself that's the end. In spring, Ben shows up at her reading with his notes, a one-way ticket, and a proposal that has nothing to do with the manuscript. She'll say yes to the press first. The rest she'll decide over dinner.
