The Defenseman's Penalty

Two hours in a visitors' car park with the hazard lights going, long enough to memorise every crack in the asphalt and every gull working over a discarded wrapper by the dumpster. That is where this story starts, and it starts there because she cannot afford to go home. The practice facility smells of old rubber, floor wax and desperation.
