Barnard Died Twice

Rowan Bell comes back to Winslow Academy and finds out her roommate died over the summer. She goes to the funeral. She also goes to first period, where Barnard is sitting in her old seat, unharmed and complaining about the eggs. Barnard says she never died. The county says she did. So does another county, six years earlier. Rowan follows the paper trail to a secret society that has run Winslow for forty years — run by the debate captain, the lacrosse captain, and the archivist who has been recording every girl who ever disappeared. Rowan doesn't turn them in. She joins them, learns the machine, and brings back every name they buried. A sharp, dark reverse harem academy romance about a girl who read the fine print.
